Run With Purpose (RWP) is a community helping men overcome mental health issues through running and socialising.
Why only men?
According to official stats from the Office of National Statistics, a staggering 75% of the 5,821 recorded suicides in 2017 were male; that’s 3 times more likely than women. This percentage has remained steady since the mid 1990’s.
How will RWP help with tackling male depression?
Studies have shown that running can help with reducing anxiety, depression and stress - whilst also providing a major boost to your sense of self-confidence. As well as running, by having a group of men come together in a social setting free from the pressures of societal stigmas, we aim to provide a safe space for men to open up and fight depression together. We also hope to incorporate this new way of societal thinking into our programme.
Run with Purpose will be hosting a 5K run on the following dates: 18th January, 1st, 15th & 29th February at Alexandra Park in Wood Green, North London for all men of all ages and abilities.
